After players receive their two private cards a round of betting takes place. This is initiated by 2 mandatory bets called blinds put into the pot by the players to the left of the dealer. Once the players have all decided how to play their cards the dealer will reveal a fourth card on the board. This is called the flop.<\/p>\n
Now players have 7 total cards to make a high hand of 5: their two private cards and the five community cards on the table. There are a number of different ways to make a high hand but the most common is a pair of cards. The highest pair wins the hand. The next best hand is a three of a kind (three distinct cards). The highest card breaks ties.<\/p>\n
Once a player has decided how to play their hand they say either hit, stay or double up. If they want to hit they flip their down card over and point to a card saying hit me.
